Sinewy Deco Painting
This stunning little piece combines both of my artistic styles. Art Deco, which is inspired by the ornate beauty and hidden detail found in classic Art Deco Architecture. Then Sinewy, which is chaotic, yet peaceful. I wanted to confine the chaos, in the structure of this piece.
The edgeyness of the metal Leafing, contrasts the variety of colors, in a unique way.
My breathe is always taken away by the hand carvings and intricate detail. I find immense inspiration from these buildings. Sometimes it’s just a iron door, others a ceiling on an old theatre from the 1920’s. Beauty can truly be found in everything, if you look hard enough.
Canvas is prepped with gesso, then the pattern is sketched out. I then lay down the base line work. Next, I put down the base colors in the color blocking. Then lay down the leafing. Finally, I add the depth to the vortexes, by adding extra layers and shading. Then finish the sinewy designs with their shading and highlights. Finishing touchups and definition is then added. The painting is completed with a matte varnish.
Then signed, dated, and numbered on the back. Each painting is wired for hanging.
